At Canon Point, you’ll find people devoted to Jesus, built on God’s Word, and living out His love in real ways.
Our Story
Canon Point Church was born out of God’s clear call to bring the hope of Jesus to the greater Salem area.
Pastor Jason Bunse grew up in a broken home and, as a teen, got caught up in alcohol, drugs, and reckless living. Everything changed when God intervened through an arrest that led him to prison. There, Jason opened a Bible for the first time and God radically transformed his life.
God gave Jason a vision: to share His Word, make disciples, and build His Church. Though Jason never thought he’d return to Salem, the Lord called him back once a place of pain, now a place of purpose.
For the last 10 years, Jason served faithfully as an associate pastor at Athey Creek Church in West Linn, OR. Now, with their full support, he’s stepping out to plant Canon Point Church in his hometown.
Why “Canon Point”?
Our name reflects both who we are and what we do.
Canon reminds us of our commitment to the full counsel of God’s Word, all 66 books.
Point speaks to our mission of instructing, guiding, and pointing people to Jesus.
Our Foundation
We are shaped by the example of the early church in Acts 2:42-46.
“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.”
This pattern—teaching, fellowship, breaking bread, and prayer—forms the heartbeat of Canon Point today.

We desire to see Salem and beyond transformed by the hope and love of Jesus.
