The Distinctives of Canon Point

The 12 Distinctives of Canon Point bring clarity to our mission by expressing what we do and why we do it.

1. Centered on Jesus

Everything we do points to the person and work of Jesus—not a personality, program, or brand. - Acts 17:22-23; 1 Corinthians 1:17-23; 2:1-5

👉 It’s all about Jesus.

2. The Priority of the Whole Word of God

We are committed to declaring the full counsel of God’s Word, not skipping hard or unpopular passages. - Acts 20:20, 27; 2 Timothy 2:15-16

👉 The whole Word for the whole church.

3. At Peace with Mystery

We seek balance on “problem passages” and rest in God’s wisdom where our understanding is limited. - Daniel 8:27

👉 Where God is silent, we’re at peace.

4. Empowered by the Holy Spirit

We embrace the Spirit’s work in guiding, empowering, and transforming lives. - John 14:17; 20:21; Acts 1:8; Genesis 6

👉 Spirit-led, not self-led.

5. Love Above All

Love is the supreme mark of discipleship. True love rejoices in truth, not in sin. - 1 Corinthians 13:1-3; 1 John 4:7-11; Colossians 1:27

👉 If it’s not love, it’s not Jesus.

6. Emphasis on Evangelism

We are committed to making disciples everywhere—evangelize or fossilize. - Matthew 28:19-20

👉 Good news is meant to go

7. The Book of Acts as Our Pattern

We follow the divine design: doctrine remains unchanging, but methods can adapt. - Acts 2:42

👉 Same message, fresh methods.

8. Encouraging Ventures of Faith

We celebrate bold steps of faith, trusting God to do the impossible. - 1 Samuel 14:6; Hebrews 11:1

👉 Faith is spelled R-I-S-K

9. Expecting Christ’s Return

We live with hopeful anticipation of Jesus’ coming again. - John 14:1-6; 1 Thessalonians 4

👉 Eyes up—Jesus is coming.

10. A Place of Refreshment

The church should refresh the weary, a spiritual hospital a place to find rest and be renewed. Not recruit for an agenda. Matthew 11:28

👉 Come thirsty, leave refreshed.

11. Biblical Church Government

We structure leadership according to Scripture, not committees or bureaucracy. - Exodus 18:21; Acts 6, 15; 1 Timothy 3

👉 Order God’s way, not man’s way.

12. Marked by Grace

We extend grace in all our dealings, remembering Christ’s forgiveness toward us—even toward His enemies. - Luke 4:22

👉 Grace in, grace out.
